About the job

Job description

Are you an experienced HR Business Partner, that can influence business leaders and key stakeholders to look beyond their immediate needs and describe their business priorities of the future?

Are you seeking a new challenge in providing strategic partnership to a complex outcome system that covers multiple organisations and business units of circa 7000fte?

Do you want to be part of a senior leadership team responsible for transforming the way we deliver HR activities to Defra group?

Are you someone who provides effective and motivational leadership to your own staff and across functions?

If so, then Senior HR Business Partner to the Food, Farming and Bio Security outcome system could be the role for you.

This is a key strategic leadership role within HR, reporting directly to the Defra Group HR Director and a key member of the core senior HR Leadership Team.

Your professional and personal wellbeing is important to us. Our benefits include generous annual leave, a contributory pension, staff bonuses and recognition, salary sacrifice benefit options, and an employee discount scheme. We also offer flexible working and a variety of learning and development opportunities.

Who are Defra? We are the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) and we play a vital role at the heart of UK life. The wide-ranging work we do to safeguard the natural environment; support the UK’s world-leading food and farming industry; sustain a thriving rural economy; and engineer the nation’s defences against natural threats and hazards impacts the lives of over 65 million people.

Join us and you will be part of a department that protects the food people eat, the water they drink and the air they breathe. You will be part of an organisation wholeheartedly promoting inclusiveness and valuing diversity. In short, you will be a member of a group dedicated to creating a great place for living and a great place for working.
