Job description
The CEO will be responsible for some 850 staff and the effective management of Scotland’s National Forest Estate (circa 640,000 ha) – 8% of Scotland’s land area. The Estate generates nearly £400m of gross value added every year for the Scottish economy and supports 11,000 jobs. Each year the Estate produces around 3.2 million m3 of timber as well as providing diverse habitats for wildlife, helping mitigate climate change, and creating some of Scotland’s most beautiful landscapes. The agency is expected to have an annual turnover of £112m, including trading income of £82m.
The successful candidate will be a strategic leader and manager, able to engage others to deliver Scottish Ministers’ objectives for realising the full potential of the contribution of the National Forest Estate to Scotland’s natural capital, people and wider economy.
