Border Force is a law enforcement command within the Home Office. We are responsible for managing the UK border control by enforcing immigration and customs regulations and working with the wider Home Office on counter terrorism, organised crime, modern slavery and trafficking.
This is some of the most important and challenging work in Government as it both protects and enhances the UK economy and if you are successful, you could be part of that.
This is a 24 hours a day, 365 days a year job and you will be working at one of the UK’s 140 seaports, airports, 200+ general aviation ports, postal depots and international rail network. This includes the Eurostar from Brussels and Paris to St Pancras International and the Eurotunnel from Coquelles to Cheriton, where Border Force has juxtaposed controls.
Because of the work we do and the places we work Border Force staff can operate in sometimes difficult and pressurised environments. For this role making well balanced decisions is key and a career in Border Force can be extremely rewarding, which includes a comprehensive training programme of several courses. The longest of these is 5 weeks - depending on the role you accept. Your training period is crucial to preparing you for your initial career as a Border Force officer.

The Border Force Officer role can be physically demanding and you may need to search cars and freight vehicles. You will require a high level of flexibility and mobility to meet changing demands. As an officer working for Border Force you may have line management responsibility for Border Force Assistant Officers and Border Force Administrative Assistants.

•Examples of relevant experience include previous work for Border Force, immigration casework, revenue compliance and fraud investigation, although this list is not exhaustive.
