We are looking for a dynamic individual to join our growing team and manage a portfolio of work recently won. The primary responsibility of the Audit Manager or Senior Manager will be to manage a portfolio of clients predominantly in the Social Housing sectors. This role can then be moulded to the preferences of the candidate for example combining charities or education or commercial real estate.
As Audit Manager you will deal with all matters relating to the management of your portfolio of clients and will also provide assistance to Partners in both client work and in the management of the Not-for-Profit Team. You will also play a significant role in the delivery of BDO’s national Not-for-Profit strategy including its growth plans.
This role could suit someone wanting flexible working arrangements as we are willing to offer this role on the basis of 4 days a week or term-time only if that would be desirable to the candidate.
Act as a key point of contact within the firm for the client together with the Partner. This includes responding quickly to, as well as anticipating, client requests/needs, keeping clients informed of progress in relation to all aspects of the service provided and maintaining regular contact with clients.
Responsible for the financial management of a portfolio of clients.
Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients at senior levels, being a principal point of contact throughout the year. Developing a strong commercial understanding of the clients’ businesses.
Completing assignments within agreed budgets and timescales and identifying opportunities for additional billings.
Ensuring assignments are staffed with the appropriate mix of knowledge and skills required.
Ensuring that the firm’s risk management and quality control procedures are adhered to at all times.
Identifying and recognising business and sales opportunities with new clients, and discussing with the Partner as appropriate.
Supporting Partners and Directors in the development of new business relationships and business proposals through high level sales and marketing activity.
Supporting Partners and Directors with the implementation and communication of any new business strategy for existing clients, target clients and the internal business.
Developing and motivating our employees, ensuring constructive feedback is given on a timely basis.
Working as part of management team with other Audit Managers within the business group (e.g. resource planning, merit rate meetings and efficiency gains)
Acting as an ambassador of the firm, participating in office and sector marketing events, keeping abreast of the wide range of services the firm offers.
Acting as a role model for more junior members of the team.
ACA/ICAS qualified or overseas equivalent.
Previous experience of managing people and proven ability to work as part of a team and provide leadership.
Good working knowledge of UKGAAP and Financial Reporting requirements.
Working knowledge and experience of Housing SORP and financial reporting requirements, sector issues, statutory accounts and disclosures.
Working knowledge of financial products, firm services, issues regarding advice and regulation and compliance, including anti-money laundering and ethics.
Experience of systems/controls testing as well as data analytics and substantive auditing
Experience of working with complex organisations including group audits,
Project Management experience.

Working knowledge of charity or Education SORP
Experience of managing AQR in-scope audit clients
